Fourth in a series of five

By 2007, software had entered the age of mobility. The launch of the iPhone in 2007, the rapid adoption of Android, and the proliferation of broadband fundamentally reshaped how people accessed software. The CODiE Awards quickly evolved to spotlight mobile apps, cloud services, collaboration tools, and social media innovations.

The Mobile Revolution

Smartphones and tablets changed the way software was built and used:

  • Apple iWork for iOS – 2010 CODiE Winner, Best Productivity App
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server – 2008 CODiE Winner, Best Mobile Application
  • Documents To Go – 2009 CODiE Winner, Best Mobile Productivity Tool
  • Evernote – 2009 CODiE Winner, Best Productivity Tool

These early mobile winners were small companies leveraging new platforms to reach millions almost overnight.

Cloud and SaaS Dominate

Cloud computing became the backbone of enterprise and consumer software:

  • Salesforce – multiple CODiE wins across the decade for Best CRM Solution (2008, 2010, 2013)
  • Workday – 2013 CODiE Winner, Best Enterprise HR Application
  • Box Cloud Content Management – 2014 CODiE Winner, Best Cloud Storage/Collaboration

CODiEs highlighted small-to-midsize cloud companies years before they became household names, showing a consistent trend of recognizing future giants.

Collaboration, Social, and Analytics Tools

Collaboration platforms, analytics products, and social learning tools became major CODiE categories:

  • Slack – 2015 CODiE Winner, Best Collaboration Tool
  • Tableau – 2013 CODiE Winner, Best Data Visualization Product
  • LinkedIn Learning – 2016 CODiE Winner, Best Learning Management System

By this era, software addressed both personal productivity and enterprise intelligence, often blurring the lines between the two.
